Brian Westbrook (RB) - Philadelphia

Westbrook will definitely fall off some this season. The offense won’t be completely centered around Brian anymore, with McNabb back in the mix full-time.

The Bust Explained

Westbrook is coming off of a carrier season, tallying up over 1900 total yards, and 11 touchdowns. He was especially impressive in the playoffs, where he scored 3 TDs and over 250 yards. Unfortunately the bulk of all of the stats came after McNabb fell to injury. They were forced to run more than normal, and emphasis him as a receiver out of the backfield. Now that McNabb is returning there should be a significant drop off in those numbers.

Last season was Westbrook’s most healthy one since 2003. We wouldn’t be a surprised to see him get injured again. We also wouldn’t doubt to see the Eagles bring in a few other backs as insurance for this problem, as well as to take over some of the goal line duties.

The Risk Factor: 

We aren’t suggesting for you to completely write off Westbrook, however, we are suggesting not to expect similar numbers from him. Most owners will end up paying too hefty of a price, and that’s where the risk is.

The Strategy:

  Don’t be afraid to select Westbrook, just don’t pay too much. Try to get him in the middle rounds, but no later.
