Where was this guy during the college football season? Lynch did not get much hype in college unless you consider off the field issues hype. Be warned that he is more of a Pacman than a Priest. 800 Yds and 5 TDs is the high end, while jail and community service is the low.

The Bust Explained

Being drafted to replace McGahee will warrant some looks come draft day. He is no where near the talent of McGahee so don’t expect any better numbers. The offensive line is unproven, so relying on a rookie RB to carry a team is not wise. The above data shows that the Bills running game has been in a tail spin the last 3 years so don’t expect a rookie to fix that in year one.

The Risk Factor:

Character and offensive line are the biggest issues with Lynch. We don’t think he is a Lawrence Phillips, however his track record in college will get the commissioner’s attention. A shaky offensive line has ruined many seasons for many starting RBs, so injury or ineffectiveness is a probable outcome for Lynch.

The Strategy:

At best Lynch is a 4th RB and deserves a few looks in keeper leagues. The rookie RB crop gets weak after Peterson so don’t trade up to snag him. If you are backed into a corner with a gun to your head take him then look for a sell high angle to move him for a more proven commodity once he assumes the fulltime role.
