Reuben Droughns (RB) - NYG

Reuben is sadly coming to the end of his carrier. Ok, well it’s not really that sad. If you’ve ever owned him in a TD only league in the last few years, you’d probably be more satisfied seeing him castrated and having his balls fed to one of Michael Vick’s fightin’ dogs.

The Bust Explained

Reuben has been an embarrassment on the goal line over the past few years. He’s coming into a situation where his competition is younger, stronger, and probably one of the best goal line backs in the league. This definitely isn’t a good thing for Reuben.

The coaching staff is on record stating that the two backs will split carries. Don’t expect that comment to come true. Droughns will merely be resigned to playing a switch-up role. The kind of back that you bring in after the feature runningback needs a breather after his 10 straight carries.

Reuben is getting old, and after getting banged up last year, he’s much more prone to injury. Although he may in fact start off the season seeing a fair amount of carries, expect those numbers to taper off as the season progresses.

The Risk Factor:

If Jacobs ends up getting injured, or is a complete flop, or get’s decapitated by a low flying duster plane, maybe Droughns will come through with a fair amount of yards. Even then his inability to score TDs makes him unappealing to the majority.

The Strategy:

If you have Reuben as a keeper, this would be a fine time to trade him off.
