Shaun Alexander (RB) - Seahawks

Don’t get us wrong, we think Alexander will be a top 10 back in 2007. However we feel he will be closer to being back #10 than being back #1. The offensive line has taken a hit the last few years so it will be interesting to see if last years issues where because of injury or people leaving via free agency. We expect a middle of the pack year from Alexander and not a monster year like in years past. 1200 yards and 12 TDs seems about right.

The Bust Explained

We don’t think Alexander will live up to past performance in 2007. Too many factors working against him. Age, offensive line, team chemistry, monster contract. Alexander will go in the top 5 in most drafts however in the end backs taken lower have a chance to outperform him. Since Alexander has never been a good receiver, look for Seattle to spell him more on 3rd downs to help keep him healthy.

The Risk Factor:

  Of course Alexander could return to form and score 20+ TDs and run for 1800 yards. He is only a minor injury and a season away from that level.

The Strategy:

  If he drops in the 1st by all means snag him. If you have a top 4 pick you have a decision to make. Personally we like Tomlinson, L Johnson and S Jackson more than Alexander in 2007.
