We realize this has nothing to do with Travis Henry. It is just so awesome that Walker is smiling at the end.

Henry got screwed in Buffalo by getting injured and never getting his job back. He had a resurgent year in 2006 with Tennessee, however don’t let that fool you. Shanahan has been playing the RB shuffle since Portis left. Bell and Sapp are threats to take away playing time along with the concept of making a trade for more RB talent. We expect Henry to get 800 YDs and 6 TDs which is well below where he will get drafted.

The Bust Explained

Since Portis was shipped off to Washington for Bailey, Denver has used 6 (Droughns, Bell, Griffin, Anderson, Dayne, Bell) different RBs as starters. We foresee that trend to continue in 2007 with Henry getting the bulk of the action but Bell and Sapp seeing extensive time as well. The above status show just how useful the #2 back on Denver has been since Portis was traded. Don’t rule out a goal line back situation where Henry is pulled inside the 20 for Bell or Sapp to punch it in. Our faith in Shanahan on sticking with one RB is pretty much zero. Yours should be as well.

The Risk Factor:

Henry’s biggest risk in 2007 is playing time. We don’t foresee him carrying the load and being a feature back in all offensive situations. Mike Bell was a serviceable RB when given playing time in 2006 so we expect him to still be a major player in the offensive scheme.

The Strategy:

Some poor sap in your league will draft Henry as their #2 back and be relegated to a year of torture and agony. Don’t let that be you! A better move would be to pluck Mike Bell late, then try to trade him to the Henry owner.
