Now that Ahman Green is gone, the lone competition for Jackson is Vernand Morency. We don’t think the Packers are serious about Morency, and that leaves a real opportunity for Jackson to move in like the home-wrecker that he is.

The Break Out Explained

Most people will be scared off by the fact that Green Bay already has Morency, after all they did aggressively go out of their way to trade for him. The truth of the matter is, Morency was acquired to be insurance. Last season they were lacking at the runningback position, so if Green were to get injured (which wasn’t unlikely), they would have been screwed. If the Packers really did believe in Morency, they wouldn’t have used an early pick to select another back. Jackson has great speed, and fantastic hands. The latter is a real plus, considering Green Bay’s lack of receivers, in their pass oriented offense.

The Risk Factor:

Jackson is still young, and it may take a full year to really hone his skills. He really only started one season at Nebraska, and came out as a Junior. His play-time will be solely dependent on how quickly he can pickup the complex Green Bay system. He’s also not considered a power-back, so if in the beginning he does share time with Morency, he might not get the goal-line carries.

The Strategy:

If you are in a keeper league, Jackson has an increased amount of value. However, in re-draft leagues, he should not be a #1 or #2 back.
