MoSneaky - Philip Rivers (SD)
Philip Rivers (QB) San Diego Chargers
So, how good can a QB actually be playing Martyball? Oh wait! Schottenheimer is gone! Thank the fucking Lord. Now we might see the Chargers passing game come alive. Maybe they’ll even end up winning a playoff game.
The Breakout Explained:
Phil Rivers will likely end up being the best value QB in your draft. Last season was his first as a starter, and he tossed up almost 3400 yards and 22 TDs. That’s what we like to call “excellent”. And all this was done in Schottenheimer’s offensive system, which fed ALL the TDs through Tomlinson. That won’t be the case this year. You can expect a little looser offense, where they allow Rivers to take some chances and make plays. And, let’s make no mistake, this offense is loaded with talent at the skill positions. Tomlinson is a huge threat out of the backfield, and Rivers has the best pass-catching TE (and huge red-zone target) in the game at his disposal. The WR corps is looking to be improved as well. Eric Parker is solid, and Vince Jackson (another huge red-zone target) really came on at the end of the year. The Chargers also drafted rookie speedster Craig Davis out of LSU, who will get some chances to stretch the field. With this kind of talent around him, Rivers is going to succeed.
The Risk Factor:
There really isn’t much risk here, which is a beautiful thing. As we started above, the offense is loaded with talent, so all Rivers really has to do is find the open man. There will always be one. Even if they decide they want Tomlinson to score every TD, like last year, Rivers stats shouldn’t fall off any from last year, which were pretty damn good.
The Strategy:
Rivers has been going in the 8th round of most fantasy drafts. Do you know what kind of depth you will have at the skill positions if you wait until the 8th round to take your starting QB? Outrageous. Seriously, load your team up with RBs and WRs, and then snag Rivers. Just be warned, if you wait too long, and miss out on him, you’ll be stuck with someone who is much, much worse. You may have to pull the trigger a little earlier, if alot of QBs are falling off the board. You won’t be sorry, when he finishes in the top 5 fantasy QBs.

Look for the development of a new set of Tripletts with Vinnie Jackson, LT2 and Phillup McCrotch. Much like the Boys in the late 90’s coregraphed by none other than THE NORV! How Bout Dem Bolts!
