McMichael returns to Scott Linehan’s offense once again. While the Rams have been notorious for underutilizing the tight end position in the past, expect that to change this year. McMichael was always successful under Linehan, there’s no reason to think he won’t be again, with a better supporting cast.

The Break Out Explained

McMichael is a good, well rounded tight end. He’s a good receiver and a good blocker. That will prove to be invaluable to Linehan’s offensive approach. The more McMichael is in the game, the more flexible the Rams offense will be. And other than Torry holt, the Rams receiving crew looks pretty thin> bruce is 100 years old, and recent addition Drew Bennet was never very good to begin with. Dane Looker? Whatever. We expect McMichael to pick up the slack. Last season, Steven Jackson caught 90 balls out of the backfield. Alot of those dumpoffs will be aimed McMichael’s way this year.

The Risk Factor:

There really isn’t alot of risk here. In 12 team leagues, McMichael has been getting drafted as a backup as often as not, in about the 10th or 11th round. What’s not to like about snagging a TE that will likely finish in the top 10, that late in your draft?

The Strategy:
Load up your roster with quality RBs and WRs, and snag McMichael in the 10th round or so. Your squad will be exceptionally deep at those positions, without sacrificing much TE production.
